aloha present, aloha past...

That is it, the decisions are made. its amazing how a week away from the mess makes me realise how tangled i am! so, thismorning, the decisions were made.

I bought a flight to Hawaii with Kaye leaving mid-Feb since they were cheap and i have no excuse not to.

But wait, what happens to my trip to the land of the rising sun. well, its ok you see, ill just defer uni for 6 months, go when its cheaper and sunnier, spring, then come back to uni in July next year. that gives me all christmas to work, 6months to get the travel bug out of my system again, then a year to finish off undergrad and mid-semester entry for honours in 2008! woop!

2008 is a long way away, the gap filled with plans, plans upon plans. I could just not make plans. An eloquent little miller quote has been prancing around in my mind lately, it seems to fit now:

"...each thought, each glance, each step, each gesture killing and recreating, death always a step in advance. To spit on the past is not enough. To proclaim the future is not enough. One must act AS IF the past were dead and the future unrealizable. One must act as if the next step were the last, which it is! Each step forward is the last and with it a world dies, one self included!"

Yeah i know, its no Rumi, but it works for me, and it can be rephrased to suit. but so true. of late, ive just been sitting around, groaning, like i criticize so many other people for doing, when groaning does nothing. to get past the groaning you look to the future, "it'll be better once im not working so much, it'll be better once unis over, it'll be better once the house is settled." No it wont, it is better and best NOW.

"...everything was for tommorrow, but tommorrow never came. The present was only a bridge and on this bridge they are still groaning, as the world groans, and not one idiot thinks of blowing up the bridge!"

ah Henry, if only you were alive now, and a little younger, that'd almost be love! lol

one for the creationists & intelligent designers

reading up on my molluscan friends today i came accross this quote in an invertebrate textbook:

"If the Creator had indeed lavished his best design on the creature he shaped in his own image, creationists would surely have to conclude that God really is a squid."

If you guys cant tell the weather here is quite hellish so i spend all my hours in the computer room. its about 40knot winds out there, running straight into our side of the island! i walked up on the dunes to do some yoga thismorning and almost got blown over onto my ass! so, enjoy the blogging till the weather fines up, then im out of here to make out with some Aplysia, chase some more whales and dolphins (saw some on the reef on Saturday) and hopefully see some more rays, sharks and a few turtles! its a hard life!

p.s. i changed the colours for you liam, it hurt my eyeses aswell!

spread the love

time to warm the halls of our new home. Party-pants, own booze and smiles essential, invitation optional. lets say 2100 hour?

for those interested nibbles and wine on the balcony before everyone arrives? im thinking a mark-esque wine and cheese etc. ja?

new home, new blog

As claimed by the posters of the Woodstock music festival "3 Days of Peace & Music", only here it is atleast 6months worth! Welcome to our new home, recently migrated from 89 Miskin, leaving Andrew behind with a new harem to fill the house, we grace the halls of this high-set, gabled old Queenslander with high hopes. To begin, a quick introduction (by me, so a biased one at that) of Woodstocks members:

THE STEVE: a man of legend, or so they say, renowned for spurting out completely innappropriate statements at the most controversial times, forgetting everyones names, covering household surfaces in wax and the laugh, oh the laugh. Usually found in his makeshift room during daylight hours, this nocturnal beast can be heard rambling on the graveyard shift at triple Z, or offering his own brand of customer service at a Coles-express near you!

GOF: for the first time in his life, im told, Gof has walls! illusive son of UQ academics this young man is known for his party-hard attitude, occasional extreme actions, sexy bass lines and in my opinion, some mighty fine music collections. Gof has one of the "normal" rooms in this house and if not at home, i hear he can be found showering, sitting and doing his washing at our old residence 89 Miskin St.

ANTON: our Californian friend doesnt have long left, so we better make it good. Hailing from Placentia (haha) California our chilled out, scooter-riding foreigner will be sorely missed. But lets cross that bridge when we come to it, for now he resides in a funny little nook somewhere between the bathroom and the sunroom.

MEL: another ex-miskin occupant who graces our halls with her yoga, ugg boots and all around beautiful nature. the prettiest room in the house for the prettiest girly ;) Mel is often found at home, but can often be seen frollicing around UQ, gliding around in the pool or driving that lovely red "bad bitch" automobile of hers.

RENEE: as for me, i also now have a real room. i will sorely miss my basement but i am trying to make my new room as dingy, dark and spoon-promoting as its predecessor. Of late, the only places to find me are behind the coffee machine at Grinders, or in bed! This is soon to change though, with my favourite hangouts being our balcony, the zoo, Grinders tall tables (drinking coffee, not making it) and the beach.
